Can Science Explain Everything? – (Evening Event)

with Prof John Lennox

Event Date: Tuesday 26 April 2022
Event Time:7:30 PM
Venue: Millennium Point Auditorium, Curzon St, Birmingham, B4 7XG

Are science and faith opposed to one another? Does science disprove the existence of God? Or, alternatively, are science and the Christian faith complementary partners, together helping us to understand the world and our place in it in the early 21st century? This series of talks will all be given by prominent scientists who are also Christians, explaining how their science and their Christian beliefs work together.

Science has proved itself to be extremely successful, particularly during the pandemic, and this can lead to the conclusion that Science will provide answers to all of life’s questions- big and small. Why do we need God, for example, now that we have Science? In this session, we will be hosting a conversation with Professor John Lennox from the University of Oxford to explore the successes but also the limits of science and argue that belief in God is not only alive and well, but vital for modern living.

The project Science and Faith in the Second City will be running in Birmingham and the west Midlands in the spring and autumn of 2022. There will be a series of public lunchtime and evening lectures aimed at helping people think through some of the more difficult questions that arise from the interaction between science and the Christian faith. The project is being organised and run by the charity ChaplaincyPlus who are based in central Birmingham.
