Who am I? Am I just my brain? – (Evening Event)

with Dr Sharon Dirckx

Event Date: Wednesday 15 June 2022
Event Time:7:30 PM
Venue: Millennium Point Auditorium, Curzon St, Birmingham, B4 7XG

Are science and faith opposed to one another? Does science disprove the existence of God? Or, alternatively, are science and the Christian faith complementary partners, together helping us to understand the world and our place in it in the early 21st century? This series of talks will all be given by prominent scientists who are also Christians, explaining how their science and their Christian beliefs work together.

Where is the real me? Some would claim, rather discouragingly, that I am simply the sum of electrical impulses in my brain. Is this really the conclusion of modern science or might there be something more to personhood? Dr Sharon Dirckx is a neuroscientist, an academic and a writer. In this talk, she will examine questions of human identity from the perspectives of neuroscience, philosophy, and theology.
